The Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology, Mr. Uche Nanaji, began the distribution of fertilizer to farmers in Enugu State on Friday.
In a speech at the event in Enugu, Nanaji stated that this initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to address hunger and enhance food security through innovative agricultural approaches.
According to him, over 600 bags of 50 kilograms of fertilizer will be distributed to farmers in 17 local government areas of the state.
“This gesture reflects the government’s strong commitment to supporting small farmers in the country,” he said.
“We are emphasizing agriculture more and want to produce our raw materials through science and technology in farming.”
“Before we can export anything, we need to add value so our people can earn money and be involved.”
The Minister added, “This administration is focused on creating jobs and promoting economic growth.”
In a comment, the Pro-Chancellor of Michael Okpara Agricultural University, Umudike, Mr. Fidelis Ade, praised the federal government for this initiative.
