Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Agricultural Marketing and Agricultural Foreign Trade of Uttar Pradesh interacted with the major agricultural exporters of the state in Mandi Parishad Auditorium, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. In this meeting organized with the joint efforts of Directorate of Agricultural Marketing and Agricultural Foreign Trade, Mandi Council and Horticulture Department, the Minister deeply understood the problems of agricultural exporters and gave clear instructions to the officials to solve them. Actually, the objective of the government is to increase the income of farmers through exports.
Participation in international fairs
During the meeting, exporters expressed the need to make participation in international fairs more simple. On this, the Minister directed that after studying the export promotion schemes of other states, a proposal should be prepared to implement their main points in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, paddy processing units raised the issue of shortage of raw paddy due to export of paddy to Nepal.
Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh evaluated the demand of paddy production and processing units and ordered to take appropriate steps.
Assurance of early action on these major issues
The meeting discussed issues like shortage of freight containers and Custom House Agents (CHA), non-availability of essential facilities in pack houses, establishment of private mandis, restoration of exemption in mandi fees, challenges of processing perishable commodities, shortage of improved groundnut seeds and non-availability of seeds from foreign countries. Problems such as assistance from the Indian Embassy in receiving payments were also discussed. The minister assured immediate action on all these issues.
Goals to create ‘one trillion dollar’ economy
Minister of State for Agriculture and Foreign Trade, Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh appealed to the exporters to take advantage of the schemes run by the Horticulture and Food Processing Department and play an active role in increasing the exports of the state. He described the contribution of agricultural exporters as important in realizing the Chief Minister’s goal of creating a ‘one trillion dollar’ economy. Also informed about providing all possible assistance to exporters through the ‘Export Promotion Board’ established in the Horticulture Directorate.
