कृषि मंत्री ने कहा कि सरकार आइज़ॉल के पास दो थोक बाजार भी स्थापित करेगी। ये थोक बाजार सिफिर और मेलथम में बनेंगे, जहां स्थानीय किसान अपनी फसल बेच या भंडारण कर सकते हैं। इससे किसानों को अपनी उपज को अच्छी कीमत पर बेचने में मदद मिलेगी और भंडारण सुविधाओं के कारण मौसम के नुकसान की चिंता से मुक्त होंगे।

Mizoram government has announced to buy 4 locally grown crops at the highest price. The state agriculture minister said that the government is committed to purchasing four crops from local farmers. For this, procurement centers have been constructed, where farmers will be able to sell their produce at fixed prices. Whereas, farmer committees have been formed at district wise mandis and village level. Ginger, turmeric, chilli and broomstick have been included in these four crops. Procurement will start from next month i.e. January 2025.
According to the agency, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government led by Chief Minister Lalduhoma is committed to purchasing four locally grown crops to assist farmers in the state. State Agriculture Minister PC Vanlalruata said the government would stick to its pre-poll promises and purchase ginger, turmeric, chilli and broomsticks from local farmers.
The state agriculture minister said that we have constituted a marketing board for the purchase of 4 major crops. The board is taking steps to purchase crops. Recently we had gathered many buyers and exporters from India and abroad in an international conference cum buyer-seller meeting. The state government is trying to provide higher prices to the farmers for these crops.
Farmer committees formed in district markets and villages
Agriculture Minister PC Vanlalruata said the government will provide market facilities for purchasing ginger and turmeric from January to May and chilli and broomstick from January to March. He said that agricultural marketing committees have been established in all the districts and so far about 800 farmer committees have been formed in all the villages. He said that every farmer committee will be declared as primary collection centre.
Committees will be able to auction their own produce
The Agriculture Minister said that if farmer societies can arrange auctions for their locally grown crops, they will be able to sell their produce themselves without government interference. If they are unable to do so, they can bring their crops to the secondary collection centers set up by the government in 45 villages.
Wholesale markets will also be built for storage facility.
The Agriculture Minister said that the government will also establish two wholesale markets near Aizawl. These wholesale markets will be built in Sifir and one in Meltham, where local farmers can sell or store their crops. With this, farmers will be able to sell their produce at a good price and will be freed from the worry of possible damage to their produce due to weather due to storage facilities.
