Branford, Florida (WCJB) – Hurricane Helen continues to affect several communities in North Florida, including Gilchrist, Suwannee, and Dixie Counties.
Residents of Gilchrist County are still trying to recover not only from Hurricane Helen but also from Hurricane Debbie, which hit as a Category 1 storm in early August.
As a result, FEMA is opening a disaster recovery center for residents in Gilchrist County.
This center will be located at Gilchrist County Fire Station Number 2 on Northwest County Road 138 in Branford and will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM.
To support those affected by Helen, FEMA officials will go door-to-door in Suwannee County on Friday to help residents sign up for assistance.
