1.34 lakh cusecs of water released
Pandey said that new instructions have been sent to the district and block agriculture officers to coordinate crop damage assessment and complete it within a week. They have been asked to send their report to the state headquarters, so that the crop damage can be assessed. Pandey said that flood-affected farmers will be provided immediate assistance in the form of free seeds for alternative crops for sowing of Rabi crops in addition to this Kharif season. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 1.52 lakh cusecs of water was released from Birpur Barrage on Kosi and 1.34 lakh cusecs from Valmikinagar Barrage on Gandak.

Except Gandak in Gopalganj district, Bagmati in Muzaffarpur and Baltara in Khagaria and Kosi in Kursela in Katihar, all other rivers are flowing below the danger mark at most places. However, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the withdrawal of the south-west monsoon has been delayed, which means the chances of rain in Nepal and the state are not over. But, both the State Water Resources Department and the Central Water Commission said that there will be light rain in Nepal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh till October 5.
