MPVY के लाभार्थी भवेश्वर सिंह, जो रांची के मंडार ब्लॉक के निवासी हैं, ने कहा कि उन्हें इस योजना के तहत तीन गायें मिलीं, और अब उनकी संख्या बढ़कर पांच हो गई है, जिससे उनकी आय भी बढ़ गई है। एक अन्य लाभार्थी सनातन सिंह ने कहा कि वह पहले स्थानीय स्तर पर दूध बेचते थे, लेकिन उन्हें सही कीमत नहीं मिलती थी। अब वह झारखंड दूध संघ के मेडहा डेयरी को दूध बेचते हैं और उनके खाते में सही कीमत सीधे DBT के माध्यम से आती है।
MPVY योजना के तहत 1.56 लाख से अधिक लोगों को फायदा मिला है। उन्हें सब्सिडी दी गई है। 2024-25 के लिए 90,226 किसानों को लाभ देने की प्रक्रिया जारी है। एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि सरकार ने राज्य में पशुओं के लिए बीमा कवरेज के लिए नीति का मसौदा भी तैयार किया है।

Farmers in rural areas of Jharkhand are increasingly moving towards animal husbandry as another option for additional income. Due to irregular weather patterns in the last few years, the crop is suffering a lot of damage. In such a situation, even if the income from farming decreases, they are getting help in earning their livelihood from animal husbandry. There was drought like situation in Jharkhand for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023. The state government had declared 226 blocks as drought affected in 2022 and 158 blocks in 2023. At the same time, this time i.e. after two years, normal rainfall was recorded in the monsoon season in the state.
Emphasis on increasing income from animal husbandry
An official said that the state government is providing necessary help to promote animal husbandry as a promising source of additional income. The government has launched the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojana (MPVY). The objective of this scheme is to promote the production of milk, meat and eggs. Also the gap between demand and supply has to be reduced. Last month, in a program, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had asked the farmers to emphasize on adopting diversified farming keeping in mind the climate change.
CM had said that there is huge demand for milk and meat in the state, but these are imported from other states. Our government is working to meet the demand by promoting farmers. Farmers can increase their income through animal husbandry. He said that the government is helping the farmers in many ways. MPVY scheme includes subsidy for purchasing livestock, skill development programs in veterinary care and animal husbandry etc.

Beneficiaries praised the scheme
MPVY beneficiary Bhuveshwar Singh, resident of Mandar block of Ranchi, said that he has got three cows under this scheme and now the number of cattle has increased to five due to which his income has increased. Another beneficiary Sanatan Singh said that he used to sell milk locally, but he did not get a good price. Now he sells milk to Medha Dairy owned by Jharkhand Milk Federation and the right price of milk comes into his account through DBT.
More than 1.56 lakh people have benefited under the MPVY scheme. They have been given subsidy. The process is underway to provide benefits to 90,226 farmers for 2024-25. The official said that the government has also prepared a policy draft for insurance coverage for animals in the state.
236 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs) have been launched on 10th September to provide door step animal health services to the livestock farmers. The official said that the MVU is a modern ambulance, which is equipped with first aid services and testing facilities. Veterinarians and para-medics will provide services in MVU.
