There has been a rapid increase in the paddy procurement process in Punjab. Due to which, a total of 126.67 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in different markets of Punjab till November 8, 2024, out of which 120.67 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased by state agencies and Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Paddy is being procured at the rate of Rs 2320 per quintal as per MSP i.e. Minimum Support Price, as fixed by the Government of India for Grade ‘A’ paddy and has been procured by the Government so far in the current Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25. The total paddy purchased is worth Rs 27995 crore, which has benefited about 6.58 lakh farmers in Punjab. Apart from this, 4839 rice millers have applied for threshing of paddy. Let us tell you that 4743 millers have already been allotted work by the Punjab State Government.

The procurement of paddy for the Kharif marketing season 2024-25 in Punjab has started from October 1, 2024.
