Saini’s comments come a few days after opposition Congress leaders alleged that farmers in some districts of Haryana are facing shortage of DAP (Diamonium Phosphate) fertilizer. On Sunday, a state government spokesperson said that the Center has allocated 1.10 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of DAP fertilizer for November.
Chief Minister Saini was reviewing the availability of DAP fertilizer with senior officials of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department in Chandigarh on Sunday. “There is no shortage of DAP in the state and there is no need for panic buying,” he said in a statement. The spokesperson said that the availability of DAP in the state on Sunday is 24,000 metric tonnes and rake planning has been done to provide fertilizer to the farmers daily.

Regarding DAP, a state government spokesperson said, “Due to the efforts of the state government, the Center has allocated 1,10,000 MT of DAP fertilizer for the month of November, out of which 41,600 MT is for the first week of November and 40,000 MT for the month of November. A few days ago, Congress had claimed that many districts of the state are facing shortage of DAP for sowing of wheat and other crops.
Long queues of farmers were seen at some places in the state and police had to be called to control the crowd. Taking aim at the government, Congress General Secretary and Sirsa MP Kumari Shailaja had said that the government had failed to take appropriate steps in time.
