Women who want to make a difference in rural, regional, and remote Australia are invited to apply for the 2025 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award.
This week, the award organizers made a final call to women who want to enhance the lives of people living in these areas before applications close on October 9th.
The AgriFutures Awards recognize, celebrate, and empower women to lead in our rural businesses, industries, and communities now and in the future.
John Harvey, Managing Director of AgriFutures, stated that for nearly a quarter of a century, this award has created life-changing opportunities for women to enhance their skills and make a meaningful impact on their industries and communities.
He said, “The 2024 group represents women from all corners of the country.” “Whether they live in rural areas, regional towns, or cities, location is not a barrier – applications are evaluated based on their potential to positively impact rural and regional Australia.”

Women with established projects, businesses, or programs that positively affect rural industries, businesses, and communities are invited to enter the award.

National winner and runner-up selected from the state and territory winners will receive $20,000 and $15,000 respectively, announced at a gala dinner.
The national winner of the 2024 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award was Tanya Egerton for her sustainable, ethical, and culturally focused Indigenous initiative, the Remote Op Shop Project.
The NSW/ACT winner was health professional Rebecca Keeley from Canberra, who created Yarn, a digital health platform designed to address geographical barriers and service delivery challenges across the country, particularly for Speech Pathology waiting lists.
She stated, “Yarn aims to empower practitioners and patients through evidence-based, gamified programs, providing parents tools to assist their child’s communication while waiting for services.”
“I view Yarn as a catalyst for reviving equitable healthcare systems in rural and remote Australia.”
