दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री आतिशी ने रविवार को राजधानी के वायु और जल प्रदूषण के लिए भाजपा शासित हरियाणा और उत्तर प्रदेश को जिम्मेदार ठहराया और आरोप लगाया कि वे अपनी बसों के लिए स्वच्छ ईंधन पर स्विच करने में विफल रहे, खेतों में आग लगने और यमुना में सीवेज छोड़ने की घटनाएं बढ़ गई हैं। समस्या को बढ़ाया.

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि आनंद विहार बस स्टॉप की यात्रा के दौरान, उन्होंने पाया कि दिल्ली सरकार द्वारा संचालित बसें या तो इलेक्ट्रिक थीं या सीएनजी पर चल रही थीं, पड़ोसी राज्यों की बसें ईंधन के रूप में डीजल का उपयोग करती थीं, जो वायु प्रदूषण में योगदान करती थीं।

सीएम ने कहा कि जहां हरियाणा नदी में प्रतिदिन 165 मिलियन गैलन (एमजीडी) सीवेज छोड़ रहा है, वहीं यूपी का योगदान 55 एमजीडी है।

सुश्री आतिशी ने आरोप लगाया कि हर साल छठ पूजा के करीब, भाजपा शासित राज्य कालिंदी कुंज बैराज के द्वार बंद कर देते हैं, जिससे उनके क्षेत्रों में पानी का प्रवाह रुक जाता है, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप नदी के दिल्ली किनारे पर प्रदूषक जमा हो जाते हैं।

इस बीच, हरियाणा के मुख्य सचिव टीवीएसएन प्रसाद ने रविवार को राज्य के उपायुक्तों को यह सुनिश्चित करने का निर्देश दिया कि पराली जलाने की घटनाओं पर “प्रभावी ढंग से” अंकुश लगाया जाए।

श्री प्रसाद, जिन्होंने राज्य भर में पराली जलाने से रोकने के उपायों पर चर्चा करने के लिए उपायुक्तों के साथ वीडियोकांफ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से एक समीक्षा बैठक की, ने खेत की आग पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेशों का सख्ती से पालन करने पर जोर दिया।

On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi blamed the BJP-ruled states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for pollution in the capital’s air and water. She accused them of failing to switch their buses to cleaner fuel, resulting in increased incidents of crop burning and sewage being dumped into the Yamuna River, worsening the situation.

These accusations came after Delhi’s air quality deteriorated last week, leading the AAP government to impose a ban on construction activities and issue a complete ban on fireworks ahead of the Diwali celebrations on November 1.

After Diwali, the sight of toxic white foam in the Yamuna River at Kalindi Kunj raised further concerns.

The BJP dismissed these allegations, with its Delhi chief, Virendra Sachdeva, accusing the AAP government of being unresponsive to issues during its 10-year rule, now reacting due to the “double blow” of pollution before the assembly elections early next year. However, the Chief Minister stated that her government has taken all necessary measures to reduce the impact of pollution on Delhi residents.

She pointed out a 27% decrease in incidents of crop burning in Punjab, which is governed by the AAP, compared to last year. From October 1 to 15 last year, 1,105 cases were reported compared to only 811 this year, while Haryana saw an increase in cases from 341 to 417 during the same period. She also cited data from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, showing that incidents in Uttar Pradesh rose from 244 to 417.

‘Dirty Politics’

“This clearly reflects the BJP’s dirty politics. If the Punjab government can reduce stubble burning, why can’t the governments in Haryana and UP do the same?” Atishi questioned.

The Chief Minister noted that during her visit to the Anand Vihar bus stop, she observed that buses operated by the Delhi government were either electric or CNG-powered, while those from neighboring states used diesel, contributing to air pollution.

She alleged that the toxic foam in the Yamuna resulted from untreated wastewater being discharged by both states.

Atishi stated that Haryana discharges 165 million gallons (MGD) of sewage into the river daily, while Uttar Pradesh contributes 55 MGD.

She also accused the BJP-ruled states of closing the gates of the Kalindi Kunj barrage annually around Chhath Puja, stopping the flow of water and leading to pollution accumulation along the riverbank in Delhi.

In response, Haryana’s Chief Secretary, TVSN Prasad, directed district commissioners on Sunday to effectively curb incidents of stubble burning.

Prasad emphasized strict compliance with Supreme Court orders during a video conference to discuss measures to prevent crop fires.
