Marketing Assistance Program for Specialty Crops

The marketing assistance program for specialty crops aims to expand markets for specific crops that typically face high marketing costs related to perishability, strict temperature and humidity control, special handling and transportation equipment, packaging, prompt market access for perishable goods, and high labor costs. The USDA estimates that applications will open in December 2024.
This initiative builds on previous investments made by USDA under the Biden-Harris administration in support of the American specialty crop industry. In January 2024, as part of its new Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP), USDA launched an Additional Specialty Crop Export (ASCE) initiative that is providing $65 million for projects to boost global exports and expand to new markets. As previously announced, USDA is providing flexibility in various disaster assistance programs to streamline and expedite the recovery process for producers impacted by storms Debbie, Helen, and Milton.
