State governments have started purchasing farmers’ crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) from October 1. It is necessary for farmers to register for selling crops on MSP. In many states, this registration date has passed and the farmers selling their crops have done this work in time. But, a large number of farmers in Madhya Pradesh have lagged behind in registering. In such a situation, the state government has extended the date of registration for farmers to sell their produce by 10 more days. This has brought great relief to the farmers.
Registration date extended till 14th October
Madhya Pradesh government had fixed the deadline for registration of farmers for purchase of paddy, jowar and millet at the minimum support price i.e. MSP in the Kharif marketing year 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒-𝟐𝟓 from September 19 to October 4. But, due to various reasons, farmers could not register till the due date. To provide relief to the farmers, the state government has extended the registration date by 10 days. Now farmers can register for crop sale till 𝟏𝟒 October.
Madhya Pradesh government has created more than 1400 procurement centers across the state to purchase crops from farmers. The state government has given instructions to the officials related to the agriculture department and related to the crop procurement process to purchase the produce. Government procurement of produce has also been started from October 1, 2024. According to the state government, registration for Sikmi, Bataidar, Kotwar and forest lease holder farmers will be done only at the centers of cooperative society and marketing cooperative institution.
