Chinese biotech startup Elink Biotherapeutics, which counts the publicly listed Junshi Biosciences among its angel investors, announced on Thursday that it has closed a $42 million Series A funding round to finance global clinical studies for its pipeline products.

The Series A round was led by early-stage venture capital firm Lanchi Ventures, formerly known as Bluerun Ventures China (BRV China), with participation from Yuanbio Venture Capital, a healthcare-focused firm, and asset management company C&D Emerging Industry Equity Investment.

Established in 2023 and based in Shanghai, Elink plans to use the new funding to advance Phase I clinical studies for its two main pipeline products, ALK201 and ALK202, in China, Australia, and the United States.

The startup is developing a pipeline of first-in-class or best-in-class therapeutic candidates for oncology and immune diseases by leveraging proprietary antibody and antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology platforms.

The new investment comes more than a year after Elink signed an agreement to raise approximately $23.5 million in its angel round, which involved Junshi and four other investors. This was reported in a stock exchange filing by Junshi.

Another recent filing from Junshi indicates that as of January 30, Elink owned 11.6% of the shares, while Elink’s founder and CEO, Dr. Feng Hui, held a direct stake of 46.39%. Feng was previously the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Junshi’s subsidiary, TopAlliance Biosciences.
