टमाटर की कीमतें लगातार बढ़ रही हैं। दिल्ली-एनसीआर सहित कई शहरों में टमाटर 80 रुपये प्रति किलो के हिसाब से बिक रहा है। इसके कारण आम लोगों का किचन बजट बिगड़ गया है। महाराष्ट्र की बात करें तो, पिंपलगांव एपीएमसी, राज्य का सबसे बड़ा टमाटर बाजार, में गुरुवार को टमाटरों की औसत थोक कीमत 1,080 रुपये प्रति क्रेट (हर क्रेट में 20 किलो टमाटर होते हैं) पहुँच गई। इसका मतलब यह है कि थोक मूल्य 50 रुपये प्रति किलो से अधिक है। खास बात यह है कि टमाटरों की थोक दरों में वृद्धि का असर नासिक शहर के खुदरा बाजार में भी दिखाई दे रहा है, जहाँ टमाटर 80 रुपये प्रति किलो के हिसाब से बिक रहे हैं।

टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, पिछले तीन हफ्तों में टमाटर की औसत थोक कीमत दोगुनी हो गई है। 16 सितंबर को टमाटर का मूल्य 511 रुपये प्रति क्रेट था जो 3 अक्टूबर तक बढ़कर 1,080 रुपये प्रति क्रेट हो गया। इस स्थिति में, 1,080 रुपये प्रति क्रेट का मूल्य इस मौसम में सबसे अधिक माना जा रहा है। पिछले साल के इसी समय पिंपलगांव एपीएमसी में टमाटर की औसत थोक कीमत लगभग 350 रुपये प्रति क्रेट थी, और खुदरा मूल्य 25-30 रुपये प्रति किलो था।

टमाटर की आपूर्ति में बड़ी गिरावट

एपीएमसी अधिकारियों का कहना है कि arrivals में कमी के कारण औसत थोक कीमतें बढ़ गई हैं। एपीएमसी के टमाटर सेक्शन के प्रभारी भारत परिख ने कहा कि वर्तमान में पिंपलगांव एपीएमसी में हर दिन 1 से 1.5 लाख क्रेट टमाटर आ रहे हैं, जबकि पिछले साल इस समय एपीएमसी में 2.5 लाख क्रेट टमाटर रोज़ाना आ रहे थे। तीन हफ़्ते पहले भी, मार्केट में 2.5 लाख क्रेट प्रति दिन की आवक हो रही थी। उन्होंने कहा कि डिंडोरी और निफाड के तालुकों में इस समय नए टमाटर की फसल आने की शुरुआत हो जाती थी, लेकिन इस बार इसमें देरी हो गई है।

बारिश के कारण फसल में नुकसान

व्यापारियों का कहना है कि नासिक जिले में भारी बारिश ने टमाटर की फसल को काफी नुकसान पहुँचाया है। इससे उत्पादन में कमी आई है। इसके अलावा, बारिश ने फसल की कटाई प्रक्रिया को भी बाधित किया है, क्योंकि किसान अपने खेतों में नहीं जा पा रहे हैं। टमाटर के व्यापारी मिनाज़ शेख ने बताया कि पिछले साल बंपर उत्पादन के कारण टमाटरों की थोक कीमतें गिर गई थीं, जिससे किसानों को आर्थिक नुकसान हुआ था। लेकिन इस साल जिले में टमाटर की खेती कम हो गई है क्योंकि कई किसानों ने नुकसान के डर से इसकी बुवाई कम कर दी है।

टमाटर के थोक मूल्य क्या हैं?

शेख ने कहा कि इसके अलावा, सितंबर में लगातार बारिश ने फसलों को काफी नुकसान पहुँचाया। कर्नाटका के बेंगलुरु क्षेत्र का टमाटर का फसल भी बारिश से प्रभावित हुआ है। इसके परिणामस्वरूप, घरेलू बाजार में नासिक के टमाटरों की मांग बढ़ गई, जिससे थोक कीमतों में वृद्धि हुई। पिंपलगांव में गुरुवार को टमाटर का न्यूनतम और अधिकतम थोक मूल्य क्रमशः 150 और 1,221 रुपये प्रति क्रेट दर्ज किया गया, जबकि उसी दिन पिंपलगांव में लगभग 1.25 लाख क्रेट की नीलामी की गई।

During the same period last year, the average wholesale price of tomatoes at Pimpalgaon APMC was around Rs 350 per crate, and the retail price of tomatoes was Rs 25-30 per kg.

Huge decline in tomato supply

APMC officials said the average wholesale price has increased due to reduction in arrivals. Bharat Parikh, who oversees the tomato section of APMC, said that at present 1 to 1.5 lakh crates of tomatoes are coming to Pimpalgaon APMC every day. Whereas, last year around this time, APMC was receiving 2.5 lakh crates of tomatoes per day. Even three weeks ago, the market was receiving arrivals of 2.5 lakh crates per day. He said that the arrival of new tomato crop in Dindori and Niphad talukas used to start by now, but this time there is a delay.

Crop damage due to rain

Traders say that heavy rains in Nashik district have caused huge damage to the tomato crop. This has led to a decline in production. Apart from this, the rain also disrupted the harvesting process, as farmers are unable to go to their fields. According to tomato trader Meenaz Shaikh, the wholesale rate of tomatoes had declined due to bumper production last year. Due to this, farmers had to suffer financial loss. But this year the cultivation of tomato has reduced in the district, because many farmers have reduced its planting due to fear of losses.

Sheikh said that besides this, incessant rains in September caused considerable damage to the crops. Tomato crop in Bengaluru region of Karnataka has also been affected by rain. As a result, demand for Nashik tomatoes increased in the domestic market, leading to a surge in wholesale prices. The minimum and maximum wholesale price of tomato was recorded at Rs 150 and Rs 1,221 per crate respectively in Pimpalgaon on Thursday, while around 1.25 lakh crates were auctioned in Pimpalgaon on the same day.
