Last year, during 2023-24, India imported $3 million worth of goods, mostly some agricultural products, from Pakistan. However, an official noted that imports through official channels have now reached zero.
The official explained that “trade and terrorism cannot coexist. If Pakistan wants good trade relations with India, it must stop exporting terrorism. India is a reliable supplier of goods and services to all major global economies, which is why most countries prefer to have better bilateral ties with India. Pakistan has been left isolated due to its own actions.”
Since 2018-19, bilateral trade between India and Pakistan has significantly declined. In February 2019, India revoked Pakistan’s Most Favored Nation (MFN) status and imposed higher tariffs on Pakistani goods due to Islamabad’s anti-India activities.
