Farmers recycling rice seeds has hindered rice seed capacity in Zambia. However, Zambia is partnering with the Japanese government to set up a state-of-the-art rice breeding station and training facility at the Mansa Research Station.
More than 3,500 small farmers in the Luapula Province will benefit from the rice seed breeding and training centers at the Mansa site.
John Mulongoti, the agricultural permanent secretary for technical services, stated that these facilities will increase rice production in Zambia.
