The air quality in many areas including Sector 62, 125 of Noida and many areas of Ghaziabad has been recorded in ‘poor’ category.
Even before Diwali, the air quality of Delhi NCR has reached poor category. Experts are citing incidents of stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana as the reason for this. According to Punjab government data, there have been 196 farm fire incidents across the state between September 15 and October 6, 2024. According to Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, pollution and air quality in many areas of Noida and Ghaziabad was recorded in poor category. The AQI level of Sanjay Nagar, Vasundhara and Indirapuram areas of Ghaziabad ranged between 228 to 256, which has been recorded in the poor category. Whereas, the AQI level of Sector 62 of Noida has been recorded at 261. The air quality in Sector 125, Sector-1 and Knowledge Park area of Noida was recorded in the poor category.
