पिछले तीन महीनों के दौरान, नींबू की कीमतों में भारी गिरावट के बाद व्यापार लेनदेन की कमी के कारण गुडुर और पोडालाकुरु में नींबू बाजार वीरान नजर आया।
पोडालकुरु और गुडूर के बाजार पीक सीजन के दौरान दिल्ली, कोलकाता, नागपुर, मुंबई और चेन्नई को एसिड नींबू का निर्यात करेंगे। इस साल नींबू की कीमतें पिछले साल के 700 किलोग्राम बैग के 6,500 रुपये से गिरकर इस साल 1,500 रुपये हो गईं।

पोडालाकुर शहर के नींबू किसान पसुपुलेटि मुनि किशोर ने कहा कि कीमतों में भारी गिरावट के कारण इस बार नींबू किसानों को भारी नुकसान हुआ है। उन्होंने कहा कि 70 किलोग्राम नींबू का थैला, जो पिछले साल 6,500 रुपये से 7,000 रुपये में बेचा जाता था, अब बाजार में सिर्फ 1,500 रुपये में बेचा जा रहा है। उन्होंने बताया कि हालांकि कीटनाशकों की कीमतों में अभूतपूर्व वृद्धि और उच्च श्रम मजदूरी के कारण खेती की लागत 75,000 रुपये से बढ़कर 2 लाख रुपये हो गई है, लेकिन हमें बहुत कम मुनाफा मिल रहा है, या कभी-कभी कुछ भी नहीं मिल रहा है।

Nellore: Lemon farmers in the district are being forced to abandon their crops and switch to alternative farming due to a lack of water, ongoing monsoon failures, and a sharp fall in prices.
In the past three months, the lemon markets in Gudur and Podalakur have been deserted due to a significant drop in lemon prices and reduced trading activity.
During peak season, the markets in Podalakur and Gudur usually export acid lemons to cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Mumbai, and Chennai. This year, the price of lemons has plummeted from ₹6,500 for a 700 kg bag last year to just ₹1,500.
"I have never seen such bad conditions in my 30 years of lemon trading. Last year, we exported lemons in 20 to 25 trucks during this season. But this year, due to the price drop, we are unable to export even 10 trucks," lamented lemon trader Attla Prabhakar Reddy from the Podalakur market.
According to official sources, lemon farming occurs in several dry areas across ten mandals in the former Nellore district, including Podalakur, Gudur, Kaluvai, Saidapuram, Venkatgiri, Dakkili, Balayapalli, and Rapur.
